The Shelf Of Shame.
I've spent pretty much the entirety of my adult life collecting tiny grey pieces of plastic.
I love going into the store and picking them up. Of turning the box over in my hands, thinking about all the projects and ideas I have for them. Thinking of paint schemes and kit bashes and basing and army lists.
Of taking them to the cash and shelling out stacks of hard earned Canadian currency to finally take them home.
More than anything else though, I love getting home and immediately putting them on a shelf in the basement and never touching them again.
Everyone who's spent a year or two in the hobby has got one.
An endless box of regret.
The corner of ever growing procrastination.
The divorce pile.
Most of us call it simply 'The Shelf Of Shame'
Hundreds or thousands of unpainted minis. A horde of your unused, un built, un painted plastic, not unlike the gold under that dragon mini you just had to have that also unassembled and sitting in the pile.
The last two years I started tackling my shelf of shame.
I probably should have taken some before and after shots, because by golly, I've actually made a dent in it.
A real, visible dent on the armour of a Battle Ship.
My issue is... I can't actually remember what stuff I've painted in the last few years, or when I painted it...
So the purpose of this blog is to keep myself accountable to the Shelf of Shame , as well as to enjoy and be able to reflect on my journey through the creative process that sometimes gets lost in the ebb and flow of time.
Maybe you'll enjoy it too while you're procrastinating painting your own minis!
Koal.
(Here's the stuff I did paint in the last year that I'm placing as a reminder of what I can do in a year.)
